Living Life Love First
In episode 6 of the Consciously Awesome Show, Sandra Fish, who plays Nomi’s mom Janet on the Netflix original series Sense8, joins Sheila for a lively discussion about Living Life Love First.
Sheila and Sandra met when Sandra was a guest on the Live Sense8 podcast, which Sheila co-hosted with Zac Hansen. The three became instant friends as they delighted in exploring the concepts of consciousness reflected in the series, created by the Wachowski sisters (The Matrix) and J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5). Sheila was inspired to create the LiveSense8 podcast to dive deeper into the concepts of consciousness reflected in the series.
Sandra Fish has been acting for over 40 years in film, tv, theatre, and living rooms. One of her favorite roles was as ’Samaki’ (that’s “fish” in Swahili), the only and first mzungo (white person) on a Swahili soap opera, which aired all over East Africa. She is also a writer, with credits in the NY Times Magazine as well as a screenwriting project for William Hurt.
Sandra wrote and often performs a 90-minute piece about holding her best friend’s hand as she took her last breath. End-of-life is a daily favorite musing of Sandra’s—she is co-chair at San Francisco End of Life network and is co-founder of Humane Prison Hospice Project. Sandra has gone into San Quentin prison (before Covid) on and off for years, assisting in training prisoners in end-of-life care.
Currently Sandra lives in a VERY tiny cabin with an outdoor toilet and shower….and the luxury of redwood trees just 20 yards away where she meditates daily for 30 minutes at sunrise and 30 minutes at sunset.
